Petersfield Wedding Video: Southdowns Manor, Kelly & Martyn - November 2016

Posted on: January 25, 2017

Rain rain go away come again..… blah blah blah, you know the rest.

Roll back 6hrs and fortunately that’s not how we started the day, a chilly -6 degrees with clear blue skies and a heavy frost is what we woke to; beautiful!

Kelly and Martin had chosen Southdowns Manor for their big day. It’s nestled in a small patch of woodland on the edge of the South Downs just outside Petersfield. Guests are greeted with stunning views with the sun rising from behind the Manor and setting across the fields and behind distant hills.

We were all set and Natasha J Photography was the couple’s photographer, we love working with Natasha so it makes the day fly by.

Children were the order of the day, Kelly and Martyn are all about the kids – we love kids and they love the camera. The venues exclusivity during a wedding means it’s the perfect place for a child heavy guest list, there’s plenty of space to roam and side rooms that can be filled with toys to keep them occupied or for naps.

The way the venue’s set out makes for a quick and effortless transition from ceremony to wedding breakfast and finally on to the evening. The staff have got it down to an art form and make the switch without the guests so much as batting and eyelid.

As I mentioned, luckily there’s plenty of space inside! The weather took a turn for the worse just before lunchtime and didn’t let up all day, this didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and the newlyweds didn’t let this put a downer on their day. They didn’t take much convincing by Natasha to brave the rain for some moody, night-time backlit photo’s. The footage was great and you can clearly see Kelly and Martyn were too lost in the moment to let a little rain and arctic temperatures cramp their style.

Kelly was absolutely beaming; I’ve never seen someone with such a huge grin for so long! Martyn is very softly spoken and doesn’t give much away, he didn’t need to; it was obvious he was the happiest man in the world.

The evening guests rolled in and the night rolled on; popcorn, a photo booth and the DJ were up next and kept people busy in to the wee hours.

I’m confident that by last orders everyone was well and truly danced out (and that’s just the children), people poured themselves in to taxis, cars and bedrooms with a huge smile on their face.

Today was the beginning of a new chapter for Kelly and Martyn and tomorrow will be filled with sore heads and happy memories.
